Revel in Your Hobby

I was out last Sunday afternoon and was so happy to see tons of photo opportunities. Luckily I have a decent camera phone and was able to capture the moments. On the one hand I really enjoy street photography that feature glimpses into everyday life, like people riding bikes or sitting at a cafe. On the other hand I love taking photos of everyday people doing something out of the ordinary, such as the photo above of three guys spray painting a graffiti mural. When you think of NYC graffiti this isn't image that first comes to mind. The colors and the images are so different from the normal tagged walls or portraits. Plus, I'm always fascinated watching someone paint or even dress a store window. I can't explain the intrigue but I don't think I'm alone. Enjoy the photo and revel in whatever hobby makes you happy. Hopefully it's something that makes you stop and appreciate your surroundings or see them from a fresh, new perspective.

Central Park Love

Happy Tuesday! I wanted to share a pretty place with you today. There are many wonderful spots in central park...below are two of my favorites.

Literary Walk is probably familiar to many people. It's been featured in many films but the one that comes to mind is Maid in Manhattan. I love the majestic trees that neatly line the path filled with benches. It's a prime place to read a book, sit and talk with a friend, or people watch. In a city that's always busy, literary walk makes you feel still.

I don't know the name of the second location but nonetheless it's breathtaking. I enjoy walking inside and admiring the ceiling. The best time to visit is when this particular family (it's a mom, dad, and their children) are singing. Their voices stun me to silence and I'm in awe when I hear them sing. It's incredible and something not to be missed if you're in NYC. Hope you get to enjoy one of your favorite places today.

Revel in a Passion

I love reading books. My favorite reading experience is when I get so lost in a story that I can't put the book down. I've been known to stay up all night reading until I can barely keep my eyes open. Sometimes I wish I could take my time with books instead of turning it into a marathon session but it's what I enjoy. It's amazing that an author could put together words, ideas, and characters into a such a fantastic story that I have to know how it ends. In that moment I get to realize my passion of reading within someone else's passion of writing. A connection happens when you read exactly how you feel, see a new point of view, or learn about human behavior through an author's words. Whatever your passion is, whatever hobby excites you, I hope you revel in it.

Hello, Again

Today, a good friend reminded me how important it is to make the time or put in the effort for whatever brings you joy. I enjoy blogging but kept putting it aside. Even though I thought about post ideas and even wrote some down, I lacked the energy and discipline to follow through. Some days I was tired from work or from running errands, that the last thing I wanted to think about was doing something that is enjoyable but requires more effort, more energy. So I'm starting small and just saying hello, again.
